For instance, exterior doors require an extra secure cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured using the standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders have extra features that increase security even more, like anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it should be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to the end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place however, when this isn't possible, you can remove it to take measurements. It is crucial to not have a cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.

The design of most newer cylinders has anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease the risk of attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in an opposite direction. This can help deflect the attack, and keep your door safe.

There are also cylinders designed to resist snapping. This is a growing kind of attack on cylinders where the break line in the lock is attacked by a tool that is specially designed to break off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. This is a lot faster and less difficult than opening the door with multipoint locks and leaves little evidence of a burglary, which could hinder an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette sits within the base of your door handle backplate providing a sprung solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their rest position after use. The handles were previously equipped with no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. The addition of this simple element is among the best ways to correct this, and is an effective way to keep your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in either closed or open position, since they aren't always simple to manually close by hand.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with a sprung multipoint lock. They won't work with unsprung handles and you'll need to cut a hole in the backplate to allow them to fit.
