best robot vacuum (Rockvideo`s recent blog post) and Mop Combos

Robot vacuums and mops are getting more powerful. They pass our tests on cleaning and can handle different floors. Choose models that allow you to choose between multiple types, including self-emptying and clean stairs.

Many of the top models work with smartphones. Look for an application that lets you save maps, schedules and select cleaning modes.

1. Eufy Omni S1 Pro

The gunmetal and gloss black Omni S1 Pro from Eufy is one of most impressive robot vacuums and mop combos available. It uses lidar to navigate, create maps of floors and rooms (even multiple levels), and works with the free Eufy Clean application that lets you set schedules and alter the S1's behaviour.

The S1 was able to map my downstairs quickly, which has linoleum in the kitchen, dining area, and bathrooms and a medium-pile and a large rug. It was able to drive close to walls and even cross raised thresholds without any problems. However it had some issues getting down the stairs in one go. The S1 did a good job cleaning hard floors. Its mop drove smoothly on its flat side and raised itself when it was near carpets or rug.

After every mopping session, the docking station on the S1 automatically emptys its dust bin and refills the water tank onboard with filtered, clean water ozonated. The dock also adds a cleaning solution into the water for deep cleaning. The S1's water tank can hold enough for about 12 cleaning sessions before it needs to be emptied, though this can vary based on how much you use the mop.

The S1 requires regular maintenance, just like other 2-in-1 robots. You'll need to periodically rinse out the dirty tank to prevent it from becoming clogged. You will also need to clean your sensors and swivel wheel regularly to avoid them becoming blocked by dirt or dust. However, overall, the S1 is simple to maintain, especially compared to other models that require more hands-on maintenance.

2. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo Complete

This all-in-one robotic hoovers vacuum and mop combo from Ecovacs is a powerful option to meet your cleaning needs. The Ecovacs robot vacuum comes with 8,700Pa suction power and comes with many unique features, including voice control and smart path planning that cleans around furniture and eliminates obstacles. Its mopping capability is impressive, with rotating mops that actually lift and scrub the floor instead of simply drag the pad across it. The mops can also be dried and cleaned at the base station if required.

This robot has an easy interface that guides you through the process. It comes with a rechargeable hand vacuum to reach those areas the robot cleaner with mop isn't able to reach and two water tanks that are automatically emptied and replenished when needed. It comes with a variety of useful settings that allow you to fine tune your cleaning preferences.

The Deebot X2 Combo Complete is an excellent vacuum cleaner. It has a powerful suction that can easily pick up dust and debris that other robots struggle with. Its navigation capabilities are robust, however it is sometimes hung in the small rug or area mats I have in my home (which is something you can control by creating a virtual boundary within the app). Mopping capabilities are excellent and include a pair of mops which can lift and scrub the floor instead of simply drag the pad across it. The mops are also cleaned with heated water and dried in the base station when needed. Mops are also refilled from the top of the base station as required.

3. Dreame X40 ultra

Dreame's X30 Ultra robot vacuum and mop were released earlier in the year. But their latest flagship model has even more impressive features. It has outstanding cleaning performance and hands-off maintenance, making it a clear contender on our top mop and robot vacuum list. Its superior mapping capabilities, RGB AI smart recognition and a long side brush ensure a thorough, customised clean.

The X40 Ultra vacuums well, it can remove both large and fine debris. It is a great choice on hard floors and carpets. It cleaned the dirtiest areas of our tests efficiently, avoiding pet hairs and other mess. The sweeping performance of the machine is boosted by a sidebrush that moves out to get into areas that are difficult to reach and mop pads that extend along baseboards.

Its navigation is intelligent that can navigate small spaces and negotiating stairways without missing a step. It can go from one room to the next without having to change direction. This is useful for homes with a lot of rooms. Its obstacle avoidance is not as advanced than that of some competitors and leaves a wide space between obstacles. This can lead to missing spots.

The interface of the app is simple and easy to use. It should be simple to use for both novices and experienced users. The app lets you schedule and manage cleanings. Despite losing the ability to wipe your floors, the Q5 still has the best automatic vacuum mopping and vacuum performance we've seen from a robot at this price. It features a powerful suction of 5500Pa and an auto-empty system which means you don't need to manually empty the bin every time. It comes with a smart application which allows you to schedule cleanings and choose the floor type. It also has an automatic vacuum cleaner and mop water tank filling and washing system for hands-free operation.

Its mops are also impressive with their 2700Pa power that can combat pet hair and dirt on carpets as well as hard flooring. The Q5 is among the few robots we tested that didn't have any issues with high-pile carpets or area carpets, but it didn't pick up cables or kitty litter and cable tangles, which isn't a surprise given that it doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance.

5. K10 Plus

K10 Plus is the quietest robot vacuum we've ever tested. It also features a unique mapping system that helps it reach tight spaces and corners that other vacuums can't. This device also has a larger bin, so you don't need to empty it as often. Additionally, it has washable filters that further lower the cost of using the device. The robot is able to detect carpets, and increase suction if needed. The app allows you to mark areas you want to avoid and is a great feature.
