Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and clean offer the convenience of cleaning dry and wet messes in one go without the need to switch between devices. They can also reduce space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacles avoidance. Look for models that can automatically empty their bin and fill up their water tank, and machine-wash their mopping pads from the dock that is specifically designed for them.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

The vacuum can run for 136 minutes in normal mode, prior to needing recharging or returning to the base. The app is simple to use and intuitive that lets you look at all the details of the cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's most popular robot vacuum and mop. The model of this year features an agitator that doubles as its mopping pad. This improves the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has enhanced suction power, which allows it to remove small hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners may be unable to pick up.

This Roborock model, just like the other two models I tested is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it avoid obstacles such as walls, furniture, and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things a step further by incorporating a dual camera that can detect objects and decide whether they are an object that is a wall or a different surface. It will then automatically alter its path and clean around them without missing a beat.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, but it's also packed with features. Its sleek angular design is striking and comes with three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which also restarts the cleaning process mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles up as a child-lock and a home-button that can bring the robot vacuum that vacuums and mops to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml of water tank. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin automatically refills.

The only drawback I could find with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. You can replace the mopping cloth if required, but it's a challenge to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've observed that any soft carpet that the robot passes will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, which can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a number intelligent features including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Roborock app allows you to manage and set up these smart features. It also contains maps and advanced mopping options. The app lets you schedule cleanings and monitor battery life. You'll need to jump through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. It's a shame considering the performance otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

It can be controlled using the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure that voice-controlled operations are smooth and easy.
