French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review

Special features like door-to-door dispensers, ice machines with higher-end features and adjustable flex drawers make them stand out from the rest.

We consulted Ladina Schopf - interior designer, architect and founder of LS Projects - for her suggestions on how to pick the right home. They evaluated storage capacity, layout and energy efficiency as well as other aspects.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Like the name suggests, the GE Profile series is targeted at those who want to incorporate cutting-edge technology in their kitchen. This fridge has them all including a Keurig K cup coffee maker in the door to a smart dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Given that this fridge costs more, I'd expect higher quality.

Apart from that minor flaw the fridge is a great option. It has a large freezer compartment, which is uncommon in counter-depth Slim French Door Fridge freezer door refrigerators. Additionally, it holds a fair amount of frozen food compared to similar models.

Inside the fridge, you'll find 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment has 18.5 cubic feet, which is typical for a fridge with a French door at this price. It comes with a decent size icemaker in the left door. But it's not the biggest one I've seen.

You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to make the perfect storage solution. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is attractive. The LED lighting is a nice feature, and the in-door storage bins feature an additional shelf that folds up beneath itself so that you can store large items. The drawers include temperature controls that allow you to set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. The drawers are simple to open and close however I found the textured plastic coatings to be a bit rough on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with the complete set of features you'd expect from a refrigerator in this price range that includes Wi-Fi as well as app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app, available for iOS and Android devices, lets you control your fridge from anywhere in world, and it has a ton of customization options. It also gives you notifications when doors are left open, when the fridge or freezer needs to be defrosted and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be great it GE PYE22PYNFS could offer Precise Fill, an option found in a few GE refrigerators that allow users to select the amount of cups they wish to pour out. It does offer a countdown on the fridge display to display how much water have left, but it's not as helpful as Precise Fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is an impressive product. It's designed to appear like it's a seamless component of your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also comes with a veggie compartment to keep vegetables and fruits fresher for longer and has dual compressors to ensure the best food preservation. The ice maker we tested is one of the most efficient and produces an ice pyramid with only a little water. This refrigerator is a great choice for single household or kitchenettes that want a built-in look and top-of-the-line food preservation.

This fridge was rated the most efficient in our Refrigerators Test due to a variety of reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained stable at just above 0 degrees Fahrenheit, and never moving by more than a fraction one degree. This is crucial to avoiding freezing burn. The fridge section of the fridge also performed well, reaching the desired initial set temperature within an hour and keeping that temperature steady throughout the course of our testing.

Bosch is a household name for its high-end appliances. Therefore, it's not a surprise that the Bosch counter depth fridge can be connected to your home Wi Fi and Bosch's platform Home Connect. This app lets you monitor and manage your fridge remotely using your smartphone or tablet. The fridge is a bit expensive, but it offers top-quality features and functions for the price.

While the fridge is a fantastic appliance, it's important to know the limitations. It has a narrow shelf space, so you'll require some creativity when it comes to storing large items. The shelves are also not spillproof and can easily be damaged or stained by sharp objects. The trays can be easily removed from the fridge. However, they should be cleaned regularly to prevent the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S is a top counter-depth refrigerator that packs plenty of storage in the frame's compact size. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the refrigerator has the standard french door fridge without ice Maker-door layout, with gallon-sized door bins on each door and two rows of shelves for spill-capture, and a set of sleeker drawers. The top shelf to the right can be folded in order to create more space for taller items. There's also a full-width storage drawer for deli items and an internal water dispenser.

One of the great aspects of this refrigerator is that its ice maker is in the freezer, which makes it easy to move ice into the fridge for use when required. The freezer has thoughtful design elements, too, like sliding drawers that help better organize the placement of items. It also comes with a large bin that can accommodate plenty of frozen food and a separate ice storage bin.

Another awesome feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can control the temperature, lighting, and other aspects of your fridge using your smartphone. It's a good way to control and monitor your refrigerator, especially if you're away from home.

But while the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it doesn't necessarily improve the overall performance of the refrigerator. In fact, it took longer to defrost and chill foods in this refrigerator as compared to other fridges we tested. This is likely due to its greater capacity.

The other issue we have with the door of this refrigerator. The handles that are sunken let shorter people open them from the bottom. However, taller people still have a difficult time closing them without slamming. It would have been much better if they had a front-mounted handle.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a ideal option for those looking to combine the benefits of a fridge with a french door kenmore fridge door with an efficient layout. Its capacity is superior for a counter-depth model, and it cools evenly and has a good layout. It's also less expensive than the top counter-depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, which can make it an attractive option.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a great choice for those looking for a French-door refrigerator that doesn't cost a lot of budget. It's a basic fridge that might not be as appealing like some of its competitors, but it still has enough features to make a good option. Its most significant feature, the adjustable temperature drawer, helps to keep food items such as vegetables and meat fresher longer. It also comes with a huge water and ice maker dispenser.

The "Chill Drawer", which sits over the two crisper bins, is a nice feature. The drawer lets you redirect the majority of the refrigerator's cooling power into this area, so it can be used to store food items which need extra attention. This feature is adjustable using a slider on the outside of the drawer. You can also use this to adjust the general cooling settings for the entire fridge, but I've noticed that adjusting the general settings tends produce better results than specific ones.

In my tests, I found that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent in various parts of the fridge. The temperatures in the middle, top and bottom of the fridge didn't differ significantly from 38 degrees. This is a great performance, but does not quite make it to the top of our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also connect this fridge to a smart thermometer for more precise measurements of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's exterior is constructed of stainless steel with a grey-bodied body that has a "smudge-proof" finish. It repels fingerprints and streaks better than other stainless steel finishes I've tested.
