Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum will keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency at which you have to manually automatic vacuum. Find one that has good navigation, can clean stairs and corners and also has a large dust bin that has to be emptied only periodically.

There are models that mop and charge themselves this is an option that is essential for families with pets or children. The top performers in our tests offer decent obstacle-avoiding capabilities.

1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great choice for people who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of manually emptying their robot vacuum cleaner's dustbin as it gets full.

Both robots do well cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors and they are very good in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart map of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. The i3+ does not feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or any other top rated robot Vacuum-rated robots that we tested. It can get stuck on power cords and socks, and may have trouble navigating between surfaces, such as hardwood and rug.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might come across. It's also a good idea to keep the bin and filter clean so that they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and empties the dirt into the station's external dustbin. It then continues cleaning where it left off. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half continuous use. It takes around three hours to recharge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most crucial feature of all -- it comes with an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot through the app or voice.

In our testing the i7+ was more agile and faster than our top choice, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface types including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin that removes major maintenance sources and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines, move itself around the room and vacuum the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected, we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of best vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in most homes, but also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries that can provide power without fading for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels cleaner air back into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to suck up large particles and fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It is able to swiftly switch from handheld to floor vacuum, and vice versa.

The model also comes with an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours and offers easy access to two attachments as well as the wand clip. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's main drawback is its short running time. The claims of its marketing that it has up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading as CR's tests show. This is a typical battery-powered vacuum's run time. It's still enough time to get rid of the majority of an average-sized house however, it's not enough to clean every area (though a second run-through usually does the trick). That's not to say this model isn't a good choice: It's lighter and maneuverable than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a standard robot vacuum hoover vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have lots of money to spend on a robot. It was able to pick up the majority of types of debris in our tests and would often go over the same area multiple times for a thorough clean. Its flat front allows it to reach the corners and edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. As a result, it may get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't as sturdy, and often runs out of battery power before making it back to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses, has more advanced automation abilities and is able to better move its own. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled using the voice assistant on your smartphone. It also feels more sturdy, has a more powerful motor, and works better on bare floors and low-pile carpet, while providing a wider array of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a well-known brand in home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard tech for navigation and obstacles avoidance.

The app offers a wide range of options for customizing your robotic cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior customizations, docking frequency settings and many more. The app is easy to navigate and use, just like other Samsung devices.

In our testing, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. It did not do well in avoiding taller items such as cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we tested which could be a deal-breaker for some shoppers.

The app allows you to access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's area of cleaning. This feature allows you to monitor your pets or the kids if you're away from home. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned for the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that's self-emptying and helps keep the robot's dustbin clear and maximizes suction power for each cleaning run.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

In contrast to other robotic vacuums that are specifically designed for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. They feature an extra-wide cleaning path as well as a large dustbin that holds twice as much debris than the competition to keep the cleaning area free of debris for the longest period of time. They also have two side sweepers for cleaning around corners and edges.
