WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item upgrading by 3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade items will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items which can be used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be bought by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will display the item's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade item recipe. Crests

It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
