Both robots are good at removing surface dirt on hard floors and carpets, and they can easily navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we test the i3+ does not have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can get stuck on things such as socks or power cords and it may have trouble traversing transitions across surfaces like hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it might come across. It's also recommended to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they aren't clogged by dirt. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station and automatically emptying its debris into the station's external dustbin, and then continues cleaning where it left off. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes three hours to charge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in the iRobot flagship line, and it has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. -- the most important feature of all -- it has an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot with voice or through the app.

In our tests the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our top choice and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin that eliminates a major source of maintenance and reduces the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines and move around the room, and even vacuum the area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. Once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world full of vacuums that are cordless and are like minivans and buses, this small Dyson model feels like an automobile. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households however, it can also fit perfectly next to the coffee table or shelves where you can wave it around like a magic device.

The V10 is powered with seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries, which produces power without fading for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then lets cleaner air into your home. The automatic cleaning robot head is specially designed to drive bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to suck up large particles and fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to suit the task at hand. It quickly converts from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back.

The model also comes with docks that charge to 100% in 3.5 hours and offers easy access to two attachments and an clip for a wand. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons, which take a long time to charge and are a pain to store.

The biggest issue with the V10 is its limited run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is a typical, not an exceptional, time for a battery-powered cordless vac. This is still enough to vacuum the majority of an average-sized house but not long enough to clean every spot (though a second run-through usually does the trick). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a basic best value robot vacuum vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have lots of money to spend on the latest model of robot vacuum sale, knowing it,. It's capable of sucking up all kinds of debris in our tests, and it frequently goes over the same areas many times to get a really thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows it to reach into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice feature.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. However, it wasn't particularly well at avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we've tested, which might be a deal-breaker for some buyers.

The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that can be accessed through the app. You can also set up a live streaming from the robot's cleaning station. However the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border without registering it as a cliff. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
