The platform's design is based on a clear sheet of paper, which allows for optimum placement of the battery and a lower center-of-gravity. This results in higher range/payload ratios.

The EV Star REEFERX is designed to serve mid to last mile refrigerated delivery as well as catering applications. GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems that will allow fleets to move to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star is also capable of wireless charging up to 75 kW.

We had the chance to test drive the EV9 for several hours on a local freeway, and found it to be a breeze to drive and comfortable for long distances. The EV9 can be used to block the sound of traffic and wind driving on the highway. It rides smoothly over ruts and humps. The acceleration of the vehicle is astonishingly quick, and it has adjustable regenerative brakes that allow "one-pedal driving" simply by releasing the accelerator.

The EV9 provides a large range and can be recharged in three hours or less at home, or by using any commercial charger. The driver has the option of choosing between two operating modes: eco mode and sport mode. Eco mode focuses on the torque and cruise control, while the sport mode increases speed and handling. GreenPower produces around 10 EV Star busses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their older diesel vehicles fleet with 100 all-electric cars. With the Biden Administration looking to electrify schools across the nation, GreenPower plans on ramping production to meet the demand. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be tested in Altoona and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant and ADA certified. They will be eligible for federal transit grants.
