Pokemon GO Upgrade Items and Components

An upgrade item is a unique Best item upgrade that will make certain Pokemon change. The Upgrade is made by spinning a PokeStop photo disc. It's often given as a prize at Pokemon GO events.

Upgrade components

The tooltip of an item will show the number of upgrades that have been added to it.

Glyphs

Glyphs are special characters that can be added into an OpenType font to add functional or decorative elements, like ligatures, ornaments, fractions and swashes, registered trademark symbols and ellipses. The Glyphs panel lets you look up and insert these unique characters along with standard glyphs such as em dashes and en dashes registered trademark symbols, as well as glyphs that do not appear in other fonts (such as dingbats).

Each Glyph provides an initial boost to the stats of the character. The glyph may also include up to four secondary stats that will affect its radius on your Paragon Board. Secondary Stats are a percentage increase which is multiplied by other bonuses, excluding Speed Glyphs that directly increase the hero’s speed.

The Glyphs in your inventory can be activated by selecting them and clicking the "enchant" button. This will open a new window showing the Glyphs you have available that can be applied to the item upgrader kit you have selected. You are only able to apply the appropriate Glyph to the Best item upgrade you are looking for. Each weapon or armor piece comes with a distinct collection of Glyphs.

You can upgrade your Glyphs by finishing Tree of Whisper Quests or Nightmare Dungeons. The more challenging the dungeon is, the greater the amount of Glyph experience that you will gain. Once a Glyph reaches level 15 and is upgraded, it is upgradeable at the Glyph Upgrade Altar. The upgrade of a Glyph increases its radius on the Paragon Board by one node every 15 levels.

Once a Glyph has been elevated to the desired level You can activate it by selecting it, then clicking the "enchant" button. The resulting glyph will provide its stated benefit and also boost all the other nodes within its range on the Paragon Board. It's important to place Glyphs in the Best item upgrade locations to benefit your game, which is why it's beneficial to prioritize Magic Glyphs early on.
