Despite these ongoing health concerns there is a lot of hope that Lolita may be closer to a life in the wild than ever before. Seaquarium's new owner Seaquarium has pledged to transfer the whale from her tank into her native waters in the Pacific.

The decision comes after years of public pressure and demands, including from PETA and PETA, which demanded that the Miami Seaquarium release Lolita into a sanctuary at sea in which she can swim in the ocean and perhaps even meet the orca thought to be her mother.
