1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

Both robots do well cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors, and they're very adept at getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ doesn't have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we tested. It may get stuck on power cords and socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces like carpet and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including getting rid of any toys or clutter it might encounter. You should also keep the filters and dust bin free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and takes the dirt out of the docking station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning from where it started. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes about three hours to charge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most crucial feature of all -- it comes with self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and direct your robot by voice or through the app.

In our tests the i7+ was more agile and faster than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface kinds, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines, move itself around the room, and even vacuum a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with vacuums with cords that feel like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model is an automobile. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for the majority of households and can fit perfectly next to the table for a coffee or a bookshelf that you can spin around like a magic wand.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system captures allergens, and then releases fresh air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and pick up large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes to suit the task that is being completed. It was able to remove the majority of types of debris in our tests, and frequently went over the same area several times to ensure an efficient clean. Its flat front allows it to reach corners and the edges of walls.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. This means that it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords and low furniture, and it frequently will run out of battery before returning to its original location.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a brand you see on all sorts of electronic gadgets for your home, so it comes as no surprise that they're one of the most reputable robotic vacuum and mop makers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard tech for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app gives you plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior customization docking frequency settings and more. It's easy to understand and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items such as socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than some of the other models we've tested and could be a problem for some shoppers.
